album information

The Crimson part of the “Revelation of the Crimson King” block is opened rightfully by “Drop In” – the first original Crimson’s text, written as early as 1968 by Robert Fripp during the transitional period from Giles, Giles & Fripp to King Crimson. This composition was not included in studio albums of the group, but was performed invariably on the concerts during the year 1969.

Why don't you just drop in
And love the life of sin
And squirm inside your cage
You are a prisoner of your rage

Why don't you just drop in
And play the game to win
The rules you pick and choose
The odds are stacked for you to loose

Why don't you just drop in
And let the game begin
You'll wish you'd learn to play
And live to die another day

album information

There exist live recordings of composition "Get Thy Bearings" with the lyrics by the British bard Donovan Leitch, more known simply as Donovan. This work was not included in studio King Crimson albums, but was performed rather often on the concerts during the years 1969 - 1971. For comparison one can listen the original version of the song on Donovan's album "The Hurdy Gurdy Man", 1968.

Get your bearings, know your time.
Don't you worry, weather's fine.
All the world knows what I'm saying,
All the world knows what I'm saying,
The world knows fine well.

Get together, work it out,
Simplicity is what it's about.
All the world knows what I'm saying,
All the world knows what I'm saying,
The world knows fine well.
